Newark, NJ – What is Devils Daily? Think of it as your curated newsletter for anything you might have missed on New Jersey Hockey Now. Additionally, keep up to date with what’s going on around the NHL with articles available from National Hockey Now’s other fantastic reporters.

Yesterday was an incredible first day for New Jersey Hockey Now. Thank you for the reception. If this is your first time, welcome to your new home for all your New Jersey Devils coverage.

We learned on Wednesday that Andrew Brunette moved on from New Jersey and was named head coach of the Nashville Predators.

The Toronto Maple Leafs hired Brad Treliving as their new General Manager.

New Jersey Devils

New Jersey Hockey Now: The Devils have the most free agents in the NHL heading into the summer. With 13 contracts to sign and some major names to lock down, who stays in New Jersey? Who goes? The Devils aren’t going to want to make too many changes after a superb 2022-23. Already minus Brunette, GM Tom Fitzgerald has his work cut out for him.

Stanley Cup Final

Vegas Hockey Now: Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy has been to the Stanley Cup Final before. In 2019, Cassidy led the Bruins to the last dance against the St. Louis Blues and dropped a heartbreaker at home in Game 7. The Golden Knights’ head coach has learned from his loss and is prepared to use it to his advantage in this year’s Stanley Cup Final.

Florida Hockey Now: Paul Maurice gave Jamie Kompon a nice shot to the ribs when the Florida Panthers swept the Carolina Hurricanes in four games. That’s probably because Kompon runs the special teams for Florida. The Panthers’ power play started slow in the Eastern Conference Final, but the little adjustments Kompon made to the special teams propelled the Panthers to sweep the ‘Canes in four games.

National Hockey Now

Washington Hockey Now: The Washington Capitals hired Spencer Carbury as their new head coach on Wednesday. Part of that decision was Carbury’s familiarity with the Capitals’ youth such as Connor McMichael.

Montreal Hockey Now: The Montreal Canadiens have a new-look development team heading into the 2023-24 season. They’re in for a big test with an influx of youth in Montreal.

Philly Hockey Now: A new General Manager and plenty of trade speculation swirling around the Philadelphia Flyers is making it feel like no names are off the table in terms of trade for Daniel Briere, including Carter Hart.

Nashville Hockey Now: Barry Trotz was the first-ever head coach in Nashville Predators history. Andrew Brunette scored the first-ever goal for Nashville’s franchise. Current Predators call Brunette’s hire a “full-circle moment.”

Detroit Hockey Now: A disheartening development, but the Czech Hockey Hall-of-Fame is closing. Legendary goaltender Dominik Hasek was seen collecting his artifacts from the Czech Hockey Hall of Fame in Prague.

Colorado Hockey Now: The Colorado Avalanche has had some really excellent drafts. They’ve also had some pretty horrible ones. CHNs Evan Rawal takes a look at some of the very best and extreme worst.

Calgary Hockey Now: Carbury has been hired in Washington. Brunette has been hired in Nashville. The New York Rangers are weighing their options with Peter Laviolette and John Hynes. The Calgary Flames remain without a head coach and their options are thinning.
