Last Game
The Devils tracked to Manhattan to take on the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Akira Schmid led the way through the first 30 minutes of play making a perfect 21/21 saves. Goals by Tyler Toffoli, Jesper Bratt, and Michael McLeod sealed a 3-2 victory over the Blueshirts in regulation. Seven different Devils players registered a point in the contest. Erik Kallgren relieved Schmid in the latter 30 minutes of Thursday night’s game. After allowing a goal on the first shot he saw, Kallgren settled down making 19/21 saves.

According to the game notes via Devils PR, “The Devils opened the 2023-24 preseason against Philadelphia on Mon., Sept. 25, and recorded four goals in the game’s opening 5:50 (O. Palat, E. Haula, T. Thompson & A. Holtz).
Forwards Timo Meier and Michael McLeod tallied New Jersey’s two other goals, while the team earned a 6-0 shutout
victory against the City of Brotherly Love. Since Feb. 25, 2023, the Devils have outscored Philadelphia 13-0 in two games
played (regular/preseason).
Captain Nico Hischier has recorded 15 PTS (6g-9a) in 19 career regular-season contests vs. the Flyers since he first
laced up the skates at the NHL level with the Devils in 2017-18.
New Jersey earned a 2-2-0 record vs. Philadelphia last season, while netminder Akira Schmid earned both victories for
the Devils.”
