Devils Daily: Brylin to be Honored, Changes Afoot in Detroit Lineup

Okay, so, did anyone else tear up watching the Sergei Brylin Ring of Honor announcement video? Certainly, it couldn’t have just been me. The New Jersey Devils organization nailed the second selection for the Ring of Honor and it’s good to see them revive its relevance.

The Devils are in Detroit today. They’ll play the Detroit Red Wings tonight but will skate at 11:30 in the morning, so we’ll get a glimpse of what they’ll look like without Nico Hischier. More on that later.

Elsewhere, is one of Pittsburgh’s star forwards losing his touch? Should the Hawks take a chance on a sputtering Columbus forward? And, is Philly going to extend one of their young, promising forwards on an expiring deal? It’s all in the links.

Let’s do that hockey.

New Jersey Devils

New Jersey Hockey Now: The Devils announced on Tuesday that they’ll be adding a second member to their ring of honor. Sergei Brylin joins Dr. John J. McMullen, the Devils’ first owner who brought the team to New Jersey from Colorado.

More NJHN: The Devils’ blueline has certainly struggled this season. Enter Colin Miller who — in a short sample — has simply been awesome. Is he just what New Jersey needed to return to form? We crunched the numbers.

NJ.com: In case you missed it, the Devils will be without one of their star forwards not named Nico Hischier on Wednesday against the Detroit Red Wings.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Evgenii Malkin and the Penguins’ second line were driving forces for Pittsburgh’s early success. However, their production has tailed off recently, especially from the former All-Star center. Has Malkin lost his scoring touch?

Boston Bruins

Boston Hockey Now: Bruins winger Milan Lucic was arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court in Boston on Tuesday morning and pleaded not guilty to a domestic assault and battery charge. He was released on personal recognizance with a no-abuse order and no alcohol while the case is pending.

San Jose Sharks

San Jose Hockey Now: Sharks head coach David Quinn saw William Eklund’s performance in San Jose’s 3-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks and cautions patience with the young forward’s defense.

Philadelphia Flyers

Philly Hockey Now: Rumors about Owen Tippet and his future with the Flyers have been swirling about recently. PHN spoke directly to the young forward for an update on his contract situation.

Detroit Red Wings

Detroit Hockey Now:  The Red Wings have cooled off as we head into American Thanksgiving. As a result, changes are afoot within the Detroit lineup against the Devils on Wednesday.

Chicago Blackhawks

Chicago Hockey Now: Patrik Laine is going through a tough time in Columbus. So much so that Laine opened up about how embarrassing it was to be a healthy scratch. Should the Blackhawks make a call for the Finnish sniper?
