Devils Daily: The Goaltending Rumor Mill Churns, Blackwood to Edmonton?
Happy Thanksgiving, folks! Although, the New Jersey Devils are making tough to be thankful for much right now. They put up a stinker in Detroit.
It’s certainly not all on the goaltending, but not many are confident in the Devils’ crease right now and it’s developing into a major issue.
Head coach Lindy Ruff has continues to go back to Vitek Vanecek. It’s a curious decision considering Vanecek wasn’t great in his two previous outings. Granted, Akira Schmid wasn’t much better in his last performance either, but he’s seen far fewer starts this season.
Perhaps it’s time for a change? Internal? External?
The thing is, New Jersey isn’t the only team on the hunt for goaltending. Edmonton is surely a team in need. Funny enough, Montreal has three and is potentially weighing its options to cut that number down to two. More on all this in today’s links.
Let’s do that hockey.

San Jose Sharks
San Jose Hockey Now: One of the few teams struggling more than New Jersey right now is Edmonton. Should the Oilers trade for the former New Jersey netminder, Mackenzie Blackwood?
