Happy Thanksgiving, folks!  Although, the New Jersey Devils are making tough to be thankful for much right now. They put up a stinker in Detroit.

It’s certainly not all on the goaltending, but not many are confident in the Devils’ crease right now and it’s developing into a major issue.

Head coach Lindy Ruff has continues to go back to Vitek Vanecek. It’s a curious decision considering Vanecek wasn’t great in his two previous outings. Granted, Akira Schmid wasn’t much better in his last performance either, but he’s seen far fewer starts this season.

Perhaps it’s time for a change? Internal? External?

The thing is, New Jersey isn’t the only team on the hunt for goaltending. Edmonton is surely a team in need. Funny enough, Montreal has three and is potentially weighing its options to cut that number down to two. More on all this in today’s links.

Let’s do that hockey.

New Jersey Devils

New Jersey Hockey Now: The Devils were shut out for the first time since April 24th, 2022. That happened last night against the Detroit Red Wings in Motor City. Here’s the takeaways.

NJ.com: The Devils are now 1-5-0 in their last six games. What’s going on with the team that put together 112 points last season? Something needs to change.

National Hockey Now

Boston Bruins

Boston Hockey Now: Bruins rookie center Matthew Poitras has seemingly hit the proverbial rookie wall. Head coach Jim Montgomery says “he’s gotta kickstart himself.”

New York Islanders

NYI Hockey Now: You have to be tough to reach 1,000 games played in the NHL. Cal Clutterbuck certainly defines the word “tough,” as his teammates recount the gritty forwards’ first 999 NHL games.

Florida Panthers

Florida Hockey Now: Attendance is no longer an issue in Sunrise, Florida. The Panthers are seeing an increase in filled seats with their recent history of success and the players are taking notice.

Montreal Canadiens

Montreal Hockey Now: The Canadiens have gone to this point in the season carrying three goaltenders. There are teams with higher aspirations than Montreal that are in net of someone to tend their respective nets. MHN weighs the pros and cons of potentially trading each netminder.

San Jose Sharks

San Jose Hockey Now: One of the few teams struggling more than New Jersey right now is Edmonton. Should the Oilers trade for the former New Jersey netminder, Mackenzie Blackwood?
