Devils defense prospect, Seamus Casey, is headed to Sweden after offically making Team USA’s World Junior roster.
New Jersey Devils prospect, Seamus Casey, is officially headed to the World Junior tournament in Sweden.
The tournament is set to kick off on Dec. 26th, 2023 and last through Jan. 5th, 2024. Casey was invited to Team USA’s camp along with 29 other prospects. Four players were cut on Saturday ahead of the tournament. As a result, Casey remains on the final roster as one of the final 25 players heading to Gothenburg.
On the last day of camp ahead of cuts, we got a look at what the on-ice roster might look like when the puck drops.

Unlike the last tournament where Casey never drew into the lineup, it appears he’s on the second defense pair alongside 2024 draft-eligible, top prospect Zeev Buium.
Casey has certainly had an incredible season at the NCAA level. In 18 games with the University of Michigan, the 19-year-old defenseman has accrued four goals and 23 points. In fact, Casey’s 23 points lead all of Michigan and place him within the top 15 scorers in the NCAA.
Casey joins fellow Devils prospect, Lenni Hameenaho (representing Finland), as one of the top prospects in New Jersey heading to Sweden. The Red and Black will be well represented in the tournament as they look to showcase the skills that have made them top players in their respective leagues.
