Devils Daily: Brutal Injury Luck in New Jersey

New Jersey Devils

Have you ever stopped to think about the irony regarding the seasons for the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers?

After the Devils defeated the Rangers in seven games in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the belief was that New Jersey was on the rise whereas the Rangers might be trending in the other direction. Now, the Rangers are one of the best teams in the NHL and the Devils are cursed with injuries that are potentially hindering their season.

That’s not to suggest that the Devils are being punished for their 2023 postseason run. It just certainly feels like some Rangers fan is sitting with their Devils voodoo doll that has about five or more needles sticking out of it.

And, no. We’re not blaming the Rangers or their fans here, either. Put down your pitchforks, Blueshirts.

What’s the point of all of this? Well, yesterday brought about two more significant injuries to the Devils.

Elsewhere, Florida’s engine is revving again, a forward in Philly loses his cool, and a San Jose goaltender is drawing interest.

Let’s do that hockey.

New Jersey Devils

The Devils fell to the Canucks 6-4 in regulation Saturday night. Read up on the takeaways.

New Jersey Hockey Now: When it rains it pours, and it’s a monsoon in New Jersey. The Devils sustain another key injury as Jack Hughes missed Saturday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks with an upper-body injury.

More NJHN: But wait, there’s more. The Devils have been cursed with injuries as they suffered another significant blow on Saturday night. Jonas Siegenthaler broke his foot blocking a shot.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: As a result of Connor Bedard’s injury, the Penguins traded Rem Pitlick to the Blackhawks.

San Jose Sharks

San Jose Hockey Now: As the result of a strong season, teams are taking notice of Sharks goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen. There are clubs certainly interested in acquiring the Finnish goaltender. Are the Devils one of them?

Philadelphia Flyers

Philly Hockey Now: Midway through the second period, with the Philadelphia Flyers down 2-1, defenseman Cam York took a nasty elbow to the head from Calgary Flames forward Elias Lindholm. The result? A very unhappy Joel Farabee.

Nashville Predators

Nashville Hockey Now: The Predators have lost five of their last eight games, and their defense and goaltending have been all over the board in both performance and consistency. Here’s how they can fix it.

Florida Panthers

Florida Hockey Now: It was a rough start to the season, but Matthew Tkachuk is back to his old tricks after a slow start to the 2023-24 season. (+)
