The anticipation is at its peak as hockey fans eagerly await the outcome of the 2024 NHL Draft Lottery to determine the order of selection for the first 16 picks of the upcoming NHL Draft. Set to take place tonight, May 7th, at 6:30 PM ET at the NHL Network studio, the New Jersey Devils have a chance at the No.1 pick — or a top-three selection, although the odds are slim.

How to Watch

Viewers can catch all the action live on ESPN, Sportsnet, and TVA Sports, depending on your viewing location.

NHL Top Prospects

The 2024 NHL Draft is brimming with talent, with several promising prospects, although we all know who sits in the top spot. Among them are standout players like forwards Macklin Celibrini, Ivan Demidov, and defenseman Artyom Levshunov.

Should the Devils luck out and overcome the odds of moving up in the draft, they could make another franchise-altering selection as they did with Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes in 2017 & 2019 respectively.

2024 NHL Draft Lottery Odds

The odds to win the first overall pick at the 2024 NHL Draft are as follows for the teams ranked 1 through 11:

1. San Jose Sharks- 18.5%

2. Chicago Blackhawks – 13.5%

3. Anaheim Ducks – 11.5%

4. Columbus Blue Jackets – 9.5%

5. Montreal Canadiens – 8.5 %

6. Utah No Names – 7.5%

7. Ottawa Senators – 6.5%

8. Seattle Kraken – 6.0%

9. Calgary Flames – 5.0%

10. New Jersey Devils – 3.5%

11. Buffalo Sabres – 3.0%

The Devils odds also have the unfortunate opportunity to move backward in the draft as well, as low as three places from 10th overall.

The 2024 NHL Draft lottery is certainly a pivotal moment for the Devils. After a disappointing 2023-24 season, the Devils are unexpectedly in the lottery mix. Depending on how the lottery shakes out, a Devils trade involving the draft pick certainly isn’t out of the question. However, if they move up in the order, it certainly brings about an enticing opportunity for General Manager Tom Fitzgerald to add another cornerstone player.

We’ll get a closer idea of how things will shake out in mere hours.
