Devils Prospect Rights to Expire if Unsigned by Saturday
Jaromir Pytlik’s rights will expire on June 1st at 5 PM if he is unsigned by the Devils.
The Stanley Cup will be awarded by Monday, June 24th at the latest. However, the NHLs first deadline of the offseason is approaching. If unsigned by tomorrow, Saturday, June 1st at 5 PM, a New Jersey Devils prospect will see his rights expire, along with the other unsigned prospects who have yet to put pen to paper with their respective teams.
The Devils have yet to sign forward prospect Jaromir Pytlik to an entry-level contract. Pytlik was drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 NHL Draft, 99th overall.
Although unsigned, Pytlik has been around the Devils’ organization as he attended last summer’s Devils development camp. Among the rookies in attendance, Pytlik was one of the standout Devils prospects in camp as an honorable mention. a camp that included names such as Seamus Casey and Lenni Hameenaho.
“Jaromir Pytlick and Petr Hauser were two additional big-bodied forwards that the Devils drafted in the mid-to-late rounds. Each displayed some offensive ability and they each created chances utilizing their size as one of the bigger forwards at camp. Pytlick showed a little more as a solid 200-foot forward.”
Pytlik is a 22-year-old center who stands tall at 6-foot-2, 200-plus pounds. The Devils prospect showed a poised 200-foot game, albeit, among other prospects. He displayed a plus-compete level and fine motor that certainly has an NHL ceiling.
In his pre-draft years, Pytlik played for the OHL’s Soo Greyhounds. Since then he moved his game overseas where he’s played in Liiga, Mestis, and this past season, Czechia.
In 43 games last season, Pytlik scored seven goals and 13 points in 43 games with Rytíři Kladno, the team owned by NHL legend, Jaromir Jagr.
Pytlik’s 2020 draft profile via Eliteprospects reads, “Pytlik is the quintessential all-around player. Particular amongst his notable attributes are skating, puck control, and finishing. He can break away in an offensive area and create a lot of scoring opportunities. Overall, he has excellent hockey sense. As a result of his speed and strong physical skill, he can make some tough one-on-one moves and often out-muscle defenders.”
If he goes unsigned by 5 PM on Saturday, Pytlik’s exclusive signing rights with the Devils will expire.
