Former New Jersey Devils forward, Adam Henrique, is heading back to the Stanley Cup Final. However, this time, it’ll be with the Edmonton Oilers.

The Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final on Sunday night, defeating the Texas hockey club in a 2-1 victory.

Henrique center Edmonton’s third line between Dylan Holloway and Evander Kane. He finished Game 6 skating 13:27, winning three out of seven faceoffs in the dot.

With his deal set to expire on July 1st, the Oilers acquired Henrique from the Tampa Bay Lightning via the Anaheim Ducks in a three-team trade.

The former Devils forward scored six goals and nine points in 22 regular season games with Edmonton, bringing his 2023-24 total to 24 goals and 51 points in 82 games.

Despite playing a full season, Henrique missed seven games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, suffering a lower-body injury in the first round against the Los Angeles Kings. He returned in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final against the Stars. Henrique has contributed two goals and four points in 10 playoff games thus far.

The former Devils forward is a playoff legend in New Jersey. In 2012, his Game 6 overtime goal against the rival New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Final sent the Devils to the Stanley Cup Final against the Kings. Henrique scored five goals and 13 points in 24 Stanley Cup Playoff games that postseason.

Now, the Devils fan favorite is returning to the Stanley Cup Final for the second time in his career. He came up short in 2012 when the Devils lost to the Kings in six games. He and the Oilers now face the tall order of overcoming Sasha Barkov and the Florida Panthers who are in the final for the second time in as many seasons.

Henrique — better known as Uncle Rico in New Jersey — will certainly have Devils fans’ support.

The Stanley Cup Final is set to get underway on Saturday, June 8th in Sunrise, Florida.
