In the transition from Adidas Adizero jersey’s to the Fanatics era of sweaters, rumors swirled that the NHL was going to eliminate third jersey’s from the threads lineup. However, a recent report suggests that although that might have been true at one time, things have since changed and the NHL will have third/alternate jersey’s next season. As for the New Jersey Devils, their third jersey will return in 2024-25.

The black “Jersey” jersey will return to New Jersey next season, according to Icethetics via Youtube.

Of course, New Jersey’s standard home and road designs will also remain the same,” Icethetics explained.

The Devils introduced the ‘Jersey’ jersey in the 2021-22 season, therefore, it’s returning for a fourth season.

According to New Jersey’s jersey history:

“In 2021, the Devils, released the organization’s first-ever third jersey. Acknowledging the clamoring of fans who have been asking for a primary black jersey for years, the Devils answered with a black-inspired/red-shadowed design that weaves together Jersey pride, Devils history and the state’s professional hockey heritage. In collaboration with the New Jersey Devils, NHL and adidas, this sweater is reflective of 90 years of New Jersey hockey history, created by the Devils nearly 40-year legacy and has been guided by the Hall of Fame goaltender, Martin Brodeur. The sweater is a bold step forward for the Devils brand, aligning with the momentum of team primed to pivot to a future window of success.”

After the red sweater, black crested Stadium Series jersey in 2024 was revealed, fans of New Jersey clamored for the new design to stick around in a more permanent fashion, especially after seeing Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt, and the rest of the roster in the full uniform. However, there have been no indications of the Stadium Series jersey returning next season.

Although, there hasn’t been any indication the red Stadium Series jersey won’t return, either.
