Devils Daily: Coaching Staff Complete; Evan Rodrigues’ World; Carey Price Trade?

Jeremy Colliton is the newest New Jersey Devils assistant coach, however, this time the newbie will serve a new bench boss in Sheldon Keefe. Regardless, Colliton joins an organization who has now seen associate coaches in back-to-back years be promoted from an associate or interim to head coach of an NHL hockey club. One has to wonder how much of a factor that was in Colliton’s decision to return to the NHL.
In the links, Colliton’s hire completes the Devils’ coaching staff. Plus, why a Jacob Markstrom Devils trade makes sense.
Elsewhere, will Leon Draisaitl be punished? An update on Sasha Barkov, Evan Rodrigues is starring in the Stanley Cup Final, and should the Habs consider trading Carey Price?
Let’s do that hockey.
Devils News
New Jersey Hockey Now: It wasn’t surprising to see the Devils complete their coaching staff when New Jersey announced Jeremy Colliton as a new assistant coach to Sheldon Keefe. It was a bit surprising, however, to hear that Colliton was the first and last change to Keefe’s henchman, as the rest of the Devils assistant coaches are returning next season.
More NJHN: The Jacob Markstrom buzz is back and Devils fans are torn. Does it make sense for the Devils to acquire a 34-year-old goaltender? For just two years left on his contract? NJHN’s Nick Natale explains why it, in fact, makes sense for the Devils to acquire the Swedish netminder.

2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs
Sportsnet: There’s no way around admitting it. Leon Draisaitl threw a dirty, frustrated elbow to the head of the Florida Panthers captain that took him out of Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. Somehow, the Edmonton Oilers forward is getting away unscathed and won’t receive any further discipline outside the two-minute minor served on Monday.
Florida Hockey Now: Fortunately for the Florida Panthers, it’s not bad news for captain Sasha Barkov. Head coach Paul Maurice explained after he took Draisaitl’s elbow to the head, Barkov “feels good.” However, he was hesitant to declare him available for Game 3 on Thursday.
Colorado Hockey Now: It’s just Evan Rodrigues‘ world and we’re just living in it. No, the Colorado Avalanche aren’t in the Stanley Cup Final, but Rodrigues, the former Avs forward, is starring in the Panthers’ show which has helped them take a 2-0 series lead.
NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: There were a pair of Mike Sullivan support hires on Tuesday. First, lending a helping hand with the Pittsburgh Penguins, former San Jose head coach David Quinn joins Sullivan as an assistant. Internationally, Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes is joining Sullivan as his assistant in the 4 Nations Faceoff.
NYI Hockey Now: Perhaps the New York Islanders could go the trade route to acquire top six help. They’ve already traded back two spots in the first round to acquire more draft capital to work with. However, if they go the unrestricted free agent route, here are five targets the Isles should try to reel in to help fill the net.
Montreal Hockey Now: The Montreal Canadiens will have plenty of cap space to work with heading into the summer, but there are a few things worth pointing out while evaluating how much cap space will truly be available. Particularly when it comes to Carey Price, and if they should trade him or not.
