Devils Daily: NHL Waiver Wire; Buyout Candidates
The Edmonton Oilers won’t go down without a fight, and they’ve dragged the Florida Panthers back to Alberta with ’em. The Oilers topped the Panthers in Sunrise last night 5-3 forcing a Game 6 at Rogers Place Arena. As exciting as the Stanley Cup Final has been, it’s elongated schedule is halting the offseason madness that is seemingly about to boil over, and the New Jersey Devils are expected to be in the thick of it.
In the links, the New York Rangers waived an intriguing forward yesterday, however, the Devils should avoid putting in claim. Plus, why a 6-foot-2 physical defenseman might be just what the Devils need in the 2024 NHL Draft. Plus, some Devils MSG Broadcasting news.
Elsewhere, Nathan Mackinnon still isn’t over his teams playoff exit, buyout candidates, and potential trades.
Let’s do that hockey.
Devils News
New Jersey Hockey Now: The Devils’ rival, the New York Rangers, waived an intriguing forward Tuesday afternoon. Barclay Goodrow is now on the waiver wire as Rangers General Manager, Chris Drury, attempts to clear cap space to address other needs for New York this summer. The Devils will be looking for a bottom-six forward or two in the offseason, however, they should avoid claiming Goodrow off waivers.
More NJHN: Stian Solberg plays with a mean streak that is impossible to ignore. He does a great job at using his sturdy, 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame to separate the opposition from the puck. If the Devils are looking for physicality in the draft, the Norwegian defenseman could be their guy.
Even More: Erika Wachter Barnes, one of MSG Network’s on-air hosts for the New Jersey Devils, will not have her contract renewed for next season, ending her six-year run.

More Sportsnet: It’s nearly buyout season. 48 hours after the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Final, NHL teams can process buyouts for players they’re considering parting ways with. According to Elliotte Friedman, Jeff Skinner could be one of those players.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: If the Pittsburgh Penguins hope to stretch their salary cap space and add talent without long-term entanglements or big-name trades, Penguins president of hockey operations/GM Kyle Dubas might have a few veteran options at a minimum cost following some potential buyouts.
Colorado Hockey Now: One month after the Colorado Avalanche were eliminated from the postseason by the Dallas Stars, Nathan MacKinnon is still upset with how everything finished.
Philly Hockey Now: According to a report from NHL insider Darren Dreger, the San Jose Sharks have legitimate interest in trading for Philadelphia Flyers winger Cam Atkinson with salary retention involved. Dreger was careful to note, however, that Atkinson would not be particularly receptive to moving to the Sharks.
