For whatever reason, from one season to the next, Ryan Graves really free fell. He was strong on the blue line for the New Jersey Devils, however, struggled mightily on Mike Sullivan’s blueline. Now, his job might be at stake. More on that in the links via Pittsburgh Hockey Now.

He never wore a Devils sweater, but he was certainly in the Metropolitan Division enough for you to know Derick Brassard. The 16-year NHL veteran called it a career on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Matvei Michkov is North America bound, Ryan Johanson’s career is in jeopardy, and the Stanley Cup will be awarded tonight.

Let’s do that hockey.

Florida Hockey Now: There’s no doubt about it. All the momentum has swung the Edmonton Oilers way. However, the Florida Panthers continue to say all the right things despite letting a 3-0 series lead slip through their fingers. Yet, not only are they embracing Game 7, they look forward to it.

Matvei Michkov News

Philly Hockey Now: Per multiple reports on Sunday morning, star prospect Matvei Michkov is indeed leaving his native KHL club SKA St. Petersburg and joining the Philadelphia Flyers this summer. Michkov’s arrival in Philly is coming two years ahead of schedule.

More NJHN: From the New Jersey perspective, the Devils’ rival is getting their No.1 prospect from Russia to North America. As if the Metropolitan Division didn’t already feature enough star talent, the Philadelphia Flyers add another name to the list in Michkov.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

The Athletic: What’s a move each team should make this offseason? Here’s one for all 32 clubs, including an important one for the Devils.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The NHL buyout window will begin Wednesday at 5 p.m. after the Stanley Cup is finally awarded on Monday, beginning the 48-hour waiting period before teams can buy their way out of bad contracts or sacrifice contracts to create more salary cap space. The Pittsburgh Penguins have a couple of candidates, including a former Devils defenseman.

Boston Hockey Now: In terms of depth defenseman, Ian Mitchell served as a solid one for the Boston Bruins in 2023-24. He was scheduled to become a free agent on July 1st, however, inked a new deal to remain in black and gold next season.

San Jose Hockey Now: We have a trade to announce. The San Jose Sharks have acquired prospect Egor Afanasyev from the Nashville Predators for Ozzy Wiesblatt — a former Sharks fist-round pick who didn’t quite fit in San Jose.

Colorado Hockey Now: The marriage between Ryan Johanson and the Colorado Avalanche didn’t last all that long. He’s with the Flyers now, however, it sounds like his NHL future is in doubt.

Detroit Hockey Now: In a year where it seems like most teams toward the top of the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft are willing to trade their first round picks, Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings won’t be joining that group.
