The New Jersey Devils will open the season on Oct.4th in Prague, Czechia vs. the Buffalo Sabres. Their home opener will be on Oct. 10th vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs. More notable dates below.
Newark — The NHL schedule makers certainly had the New Jersey Devils in mind when they laid out the plans for the 2024-25 regular season.
We already knew the Devils were going to open the 2024-25 regular season in Prague Czechia, at O2 Arena when they face the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL’s Global Series on Oct. 4th and 5th. As if the Global Series wasn’t already intriguing enough, former Devils head coach Lindy Ruff was named the head coach of the Sabres this offseason. In his first game back in the NHL since the Devils fired Ruff on March 4th, Ruff will face his former team twice in a row.
The Devils will then head home for their North American home opener on Oct. 1oth. That’s when the Devils will face head coach Sheldon Keefe‘s former club, the Toronto Maple Leafs for the first time since Keefe was fired by Toronto this summer.
The Devils are certainly beginning the season with a bang.
As opposed to last season when the Devils played in 16 back-t0-back contests, New Jersey will have four fewer in 2024-25, playing in 12 back-to-back scenarios next season.
The Devils have two season-high five-game home stretches on the schedule. Those games include December 6th-14th (vs. Sea., Col., Tor., LA, CHI) and March 31st-April 13th (vs. Min., NYR, Bos., Pit., NYI). Additionally, the Devils have three three-game sets from December 21st-27th (vs. Pit., NYR, Car.), January 18th-22nd (vs. Phi., Ott., Bos.), and March 20th-24th (vs. Cgy., Ott., Van.) as well as six two-game groupings. The regular-season finale will be at home on Wednesday, Apr. 16th versus Detroit.
