New Jersey Devils

It was a decently busy day on Thursday, one that brought a little bit of news in the New Jersey Devils bubble.

One of their defense prospects inked a deal in the KHL. More on that in the links.

Sportshandle reached out to let us know that Kurtis MacDermid was perfect when the gloves dropped this season. Plus, a former Devil explains why he chose to resume his career in Sunrise, Florida.

Elsewhere, early 2024-25 bets, Pittsburgh potential offer sheets, and a center option for Philly.

Let’s do that hockey.

Devils News

New Jersey Hockey Now: As a former Boston Bruins forward, General Manager Tom Fitzgerald inked Tomas Nosek because he liked the hard-nosed game he played as a member of the Bruins, while also bringing solid defensive metrics and penalty killing abilities. Nosek will now take those talents to South Florida after signing with the Florida Panthers this offseason.

More NJHN: By no means are the Devils known as a scrappy team. Their identity is largely based on speed and skill, and with a new crop of talent coming in over the last few weeks, they’re adding a defensive element to their repertoire as well. However, Devils enforcer Kurtis MacDermid cannot be ignored. Especially when he’s called upon what he does best, and does it to 100% efficiency.

Even More: Daniil Karpovich is continuing his development oversea’s, signing a one-year deal in the KHL with Avtomobilist.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

Sportsnet: Newly acquired defenseman, J.J. Moser gets his relationship with the Tampa Bay off to a good start, avoiding arbitration and inking a new deal.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: It’s rarely done, and it is angrily frowned upon within the NHL general manager’s little fraternity. However, here are three offer sheet candidates who are currently unsigned that the Pittsburgh Penguins should consider.

Boston Hockey Now: If there’s one thing David Pastrnak knows how to do, it’s score goals. The Boston Bruins winger is an early favorite to take home the Maurice Rocket Richard award.

San Jose Hockey Now: The San Jose Sharks aren’t going to arbitration. Defenseman Ty Emberson had filed for arbitration on Jul. 6, but instead of going to a hearing, the Sharks and Emberson agreed to a contract today.

Philly Hockey Now: It’s not every day that an NHL team suddenly becomes willing to trade their No. 1 center. Unless they find one in an upcoming draft, the Philadelphia Flyers might have to do things the hard way in order to find a No. 1 center of their own. Could St. Louis Blues center Robert Thomas be their guy?

Detroit Hockey Now: On Thursday, the Detroit Red Wings agreed to terms with 2024 top draftee Michael Brandsegg-Nygard on a three-year entry-level contract.
