Devils Daily: 76ers News; Laraque Endorses Rempe; Martin Necas News
In case you missed yesterday’s news, a very interesting situation has arisen regarding the Philadelphia 76ers and the state of New Jersey. As it turns out, the 76ers and New Jersey Devils could somewhat be neighbors if the Sixers end up moving to Camden. More on that in the links.
Also in the links, a rising prospect inks a deal with the Devils and the outlook for the Carolina Hurricanes following free agency.
Elsewhere, an update on the Martin Necas situation, Jake DeBrusk talks about his trade request, and George Laraque endorses Matt Rempe.
Let’s do that hockey.
Devils News
New Jersey Hockey Now: Perhaps some of the most unexpected news of the day. The Philadelphia 76ers — who are owned by the same owners as the Devils — are being wooed to the state of New Jersey if things don’t work out with the Wells Fargo Center and proposed new arena project.
More NJHN: One Devils prospect who has risen through the ranks of the prospect pool is forward Cam Squires. As a result, the 19-year-old inked an entry-level contract on Friday.
Even More: In part two of Devils vs. the Metropolitan Division, a close look at what the Carolina Hurricanes did this summer, the losses they suffered, and what their projected lineup looks like in 2024-25.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
NY Post: After receiving some lessons from one of the top enforcers of yesteryear, Georges Laraque claims New York Rangers Matt Rempe will be a different fighter after undergoing his tutelage.
TSN: As opposed to how things started this summer with the belief that the Hurricanes might trade Martin Necas, it now looks like the Czech winger is staying put as he and Carolina are working on a new contract.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: ESPN, in its true colors, absolutely disrespected hockey to the point of ignorance, essentially disregarding the sport and one of the best players of the century, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby.
Boston Hockey Now: Jake DeBrusk famously requested a trade away from the Boston Bruins in the summer of 2021. The now-Vancouver Canucks forward recounts the details of the trade request, explaining that felt he was fighting for his NHL career.
San Jose Hockey Now: The San Jose Sharks were able to add defenseman Jake Walman for quite literally nothing. They have Mario Ferraro as well. However, in terms of right-shot top-four defenseman, the Sharks are going to need to look to trade or free agency to add another. Who might be available?
Detroit Hockey Now: The Detroit Red Wings and restricted free agent Joe Veleno reached an agreement on a two-year contract with an AAV of $2.275 million. Veleno had filed for arbitration and industry projections based on comparables were that he’d be getting in the range of $2.2 million.
