Devils Daily: Sidney Crosby Truth Serum; Elite Devils Prospects

If we’re injecting a little bit of truth serum into the situation, the Pittsburgh Penguins keeping Sidney Crosby probably isn’t the best idea. Much like my boss and Pittsburgh reporter, Dan Kingerski, said — everyone wants to see the fairy tale ending where Crosby waves goodbye to the PPG Paints Arena crowd in a Penguins sweater. However, isn’t it improper planning to willingly ignore the circumstances and how it negatively impacts their future? Because they play in the same division, this is something New Jersey Devils fans are going to want to monitor.

Speaking of, the final Devils prospects rankings are in. Despite the number of graduations and exports from the pipeline, there’s still more elite talent on the horizon.

Elsewhere, yes — it’s too early to talk about Colorado trading a defenseman, the Isles overlooked issue, and how fans feel about their respective front offices.

Let’s do that hockey.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

The Athletic ($): The 2024 NHL front-office rankings have dropped for all 32 teams. Although fans may not be quite as confident as they were last summer, Devils fans still hold New Jersey’s management in high regard.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Every Pittsburgh Penguins fan is waiting for their favorite team to announce a contract extension for captain Sidney Crosby. However, if you inject a little truth serum, is an extension what’s best for all parties involved?

Colorado Hockey Now: After adding Oliver Kylington via free agency, the Colorado Avalanche are looking at a crowded blue line. However, it’s still too soon to talk about the Avs trading a defenseman.

NYI Hockey Now: The off-season for the New York Islanders is likely over. The next wave of movement will be in training camp when the Islanders must make roster decisions. The team has exactly $0 in cap space. That much is certain. What’s less certain, however, is if the team is better and the overlooked issue on the blue line.
