Devils Daily: Hischier ‘Excited’ by Devils Makeover; Scouts Divulge Askarov Concerns
Last season did not go the way anyone was expecting for the New Jersey Devils. Following their incredible 2022-23 season, they hit a major regression in 2023-24, largely due to injury and poor roster construction. General manager Tom Fitzgerald ensured that the Devils got a makeover this summer, and Devils captain Nico Hischier is beaming with excitement.
Who can blame him? Fitzgerald upgraded at every position that was regarded a weak link on the roster. Whereas the Devils were favorites heading into last season to see more success, this summer’s reinforcements gives the 2024-25 season a different kind of hope heading into the season.
Elsewhere, scouts chime in on Yaroslav Askarov… and there are concerns. Pittsburgh’s summer does a 180 after Rutger McGroarty trade, and a debate on Claude Giroux.
Let’s do that hockey.
