Devils Daily: Haula, Dillon Summer Champs; Hamilton Top NHL Defenseman; Ethan Edwards Interview

When Da Beauty League wraps up their summer season, that’s a true indicator of NHL hockey being right around the corner. The John Scott Championship was handed out last night, and two New Jersey Devils were recipients.



Dougie Hamilton missed over 60 games last season. He’s still one of the best defenseman in the NHL, however, recent rankings have him toward the lower end of the best blue liners. Is he too low? Perhaps his only fault in 2023-24 was getting injured.

Plus, New Jersey Hockey Now spoke with one of the Devils’ prospect defenseman about a big year ahead.

Elsewhere, a former San Jose forward bad mouths last seasons efforts, what’s up with Detroit’s big restricted free agents? And Rutger McGroarty was made no promises.

Devils forward Erik Haula and defenseman Brenden Dillon kept their on-ice skills sharp playing in Da Beauty League in Minnesota.

Skating for Team Tria, Haula and Dillon made it to the championship and claimed the John Scott Cup. Not a bad way to ride the wave into the 2024-25 season.

Continuing their series of the top-20 players at respective positions, NHL Network dropped their defensemen rankings yesterday. Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton is on the list, however, is he too low?
