NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

DailyFaceoff: On Wednesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced they’re officially bringing in Max Pacioretty on a PTO contract. Here’s why the former Montreal Canadiens captain makes sense in Toronto.

RMNB: Everyone always wants to know when the NHL Trade Deadline is going to be. The NHL released the key dates to follow in the 2024-25 season on Wednesday.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: It has been a different sort of offseason for the Pittsburgh Penguins, acquiring draft picks instead of star players, reclamations instead of stable contributors, but the questions will soon have answers.

Colorado Hockey Now: Typically, the Colorado Avalanche are a team who checks all the boxes of a Stanley Cup contender. However, this year is different. Here are three reasons to be concerned about the Avs heading into 2024-25.

Florida Hockey Now: One of the big talking points around the NHL the past couple of years has been about how teams in non-income tax states — like the Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Vegas Golden Knights — have a big advantage over teams located in states or provinces with high tax rates.

Vegas Hockey Now: The Vegas Golden Knights properly used the NHL’s long-term injured reserve rules in consecutive seasons, putting Mark Stone on LTIR at mid-season and getting him back for Game 1 of their Round One playoff series. It’s been a source of consternation from fans and some media around the league, but the NHL has not yet moved to change the rules.

Philly Hockey Now: After suffering a season-ending triceps injury on Feb. 10 against the Seattle Kraken, it appears veteran Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen is rested, rehabbed, and ready to play for the start of the 2024-25 season.
