Devils Daily: Hughes Replacements; Rookie Camps Open

The New Jersey Devils’ kicked off the prospect challenge in Buffalo yesterday when they faced the Ottawa Senators. Cam Squires and Xavier Parent led the way, collecting three points (2 g, 1a each) en route to a 9-1 victory.



The Devils rookies will play again today at 7 P.M. vs. the Buffalo Sabres.

In the links, four internal replacements for the injured Luke Hughes. Over in Newark, the Devils are welcoming fellow tenants of the Prudential Center this season.

ESPN: Despite NCAA eligibility rules that prohibit players who play in major junior games to commit to playing college hockey, Braxton Whitehead of the Western Hockey League has verbally committed to an NCAA Division 1 program in 2025-26, a report states.

Sportsnet: New York Islanders general manager, Lou Lamoriello, revealed on Friday that veteran forward Matt Martin will attended Isles training camp on a professional tryout contract.
