No one is more excited for Tomas Tatar to be back with the New Jersey Devils than Tomas Tatar.

The 33-year-old forward spent last season out west after he turned down a contract offer and ultimately ended up with the Colorado Avalanche.

Fresh off a new one-year contract to return to New Jersey, Tatar couldn’t contain his excitement upon his return.

“It was awesome. I was very [much] looking forward to this day,” Tatar beamed. “It was a hard day [of work], but very exciting. We put the hard work in today. The first day is always a little grind, but I think everyone was so excited just to do the first day and put it behind us. And I think we did a great job.

“I’m so happy to be back and put this better back on,” Tatar concluded when asked if it felt like he ever left.

Last season didn’t go well for the Slovak forward. Yet, Tatar is adamant he’s going to be better now that he’s back in New Jersey — and for good reason.
