You could tell that the New Jersey Devils felt differently when talking about Jacob Markstrom for the first time. It used to be that they had to defend their goaltenders, even if they didn’t really believe themselves, who let in a number of goals in a loss. However, this time around, you could just see in their facial expressions they were experiencing something different. Something… elite.

Jacob Markstrom was fantastic on Sunday despite allowing two goals. And according to the veteran goaltender, that’s just a glimpse of his potential. He explained he has a lot more to learn about his defenseman which can bring him to new heights. It’s certainly exciting for everyone to have a goaltender of Markstrom’s caliber around.

More on Markstrom in the links with some glowing reviews from his teammates and head coach.

Elsewhere, the Devils rivals, the New York Rangers, and Igor Shesterkin are at odds on an extension. Philly extends one of the more touching offers you’ll see all season. And, Joe Thornton’s jersey retirement is going to be star-studded.

Let’s do that hockey.
