Devils Daily: Devils Transactions; Islanders Pursuing Another Top Russian

Yesterday, all 32 NHL teams were required to submit their roster by the 5.P.M. deadline ahead of the regular season. As a result, there were some surprise cuts, some paper transactions, and a bevy of players who will begin the regular season shorthanded due to injury. The New Jersey Devils are one of those who named a roster with a handful of injured players. However, a pleasantly surprising twist has bestowed us in the form of Seamus Casey.

New Jersey Hockey Now: The Devils waived a flurry of players on Sunday. In the mix of the waived players was defenseman Nick DeSimone who was expected to make the 2024-25 regular season roster. His exclusion was indicative of the Devils’ top prospects future and the 23-man roster.

NY Post: The Post has learned that the New York Islanders are one of a handful of teams who are already inquiring on standout Russian KHL forward Maxim Shabanov.

Wild.NHL.com: The Minnesota Wild announced on Monday that they’ve inked their highly anticipated prospect goaltender, Jesper Wallstedt, to a two-year contract extension.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Pittsburgh Penguins GM Kyle Dubas held a 43-minute press conference on Monday to begin the 2024-25 regular season. To kick things off, Dubas recounted that his team “aren’t favorites” to achieve much at all this season.

San Jose Hockey Now: The San Jose Sharks have a lot of star prospects. One of those prospects has requested a trade. Not an NHL trade, however. Quentin Musty has other plans for the 2024-25 season.

Colorado Hockey Now: Artturi Lehkonen, who missed all the Colorado Avalanche training camp and the preseason, isn’t going to be back anytime soon.

Detroit Hockey Now: As it turns out, the goaltenders battling in camp for a roster spot with the Detroit Red Wings all won. They’ll carry a three-headed monster to begin the 2024-25 season.

Buffalo Hockey Now: The Buffalo Sabres intended to send James Reimer to the AHL through waivers to start the season with the Rochester Americans, but the Anaheim Ducks swooped in to claim Reimer and bolster their goaltending to start the season.
