NJHN Daily: Surprise Devils Decision; Predators Contemplate Rebuild
Typically, you don’t often see a head coach at the American Hockey League level canned in the middle of the season. That’s usually a transaction that takes place in the offseason. Yet, the New Jersey Devils minor affiliate, Utica Comets, have gone winless through nine games to start their season, resulting in a coaching change.

Sportsnet: Well, that’s certainly not what Nashville Predators fans want to hear. After a slow start following a huge summer from general manager Barry Trotz, the Preds GM admits he’s contemplating a rebuild if things don’t pick up soon.
Sn Jose Hockey Now: From the beginning, it seemed peculiar that the San Jose Sharks would healthy scratch their second most-used defenseman, also their most prolific offensive blue liner, on Tuesday night. However, it’s been revealed that Jake Walman was scratched for non-hockey related reasons.
Colorado Hockey Now: Colorado Avalanche star defenseman, Cale Makar, suffered a lower-body injury in Tuesday’s 6-3 victory over the Seattle Kraken and only played one shift in the third period. Head coach Jared Bednar said after the game that Makar had tweaked something, but had no further updates. On Wednesday, the Avs had a bit more of an optimistic update.
