The New Jersey Devils certainly needed the time off they’ve thus far received. It gave them time to rest and recover while the rest of the NHL played catchup in terms of games played. However, it was a bit of a surprise to see who was missing. More on the absentee’s in the links.



Elsewhere, a new era is about to unfold in Boston, a Vancouver superstar won’t be around for a bit, and an update on an injured NHL official.

NY Post: After a scary collision took Filip Chytil out last week, the New York Rangers received the best possible news as he’s set to join the team in Calgary amid their road trip.

NHL.com: Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team. The Canucks organization released a statement supporting their star forward and provided no further information.

Boston Hockey Now: Yesterday was the end of the road for Jim Montgomery and the Boston Bruins. The now former head coach was relieved of his duties behind the bench of the free-falling Bruins.

Philly Hockey Now: Monday’s Philadelphia Flyers game against the Colorado Avalanche got off to a scary start, as NHL referee Mitch Dunning was injured in an accidental collision with Avalanche defenseman Josh Manson. The NHL released an encouraging update.
