The evolution of New Jersey Devils captain Nico Hischier this season has been something to marvel at. We already knew he was an excellent two-way forward. However, he’s added a dangerous shot to his arsenal, and still that’s not even the most impressive thing about him this season.

It seems last year’s dreadful season has left a sour taste in his mouth. And with the added support of some extra muscle in the offseason, Hischier’s flexed his muscles a bit this year.

Last night against the Predators, that was on full display. More on that in the links. Plus, the Devils snapped a nine-year streak last night. Twas certainly a long time coming.

Elsewhere, the New York Rangers trade rumors swirl as they are reportedly open for business, David Jiricek trade speculation, and a Penguins trade unfolds.

Let’s do that hockey.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

The Athletic ($): The New York Rangers are reportedly open for business, and names such as Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba are being considered as NHL trade options. However, is that really what GM Chris Drury is prepared to do?

Boston Hockey Now: Reflecting on Jim Montgomery and his swift exit from the Boston Bruins, it raises questions such as if the new St. Louis Blues head coach ever wanted to extend with the B’s at all.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: It was a minor Pittsburgh Penguins trade, but they continue to collect former first-round talent who haven’t met expectations in the NHL. Philip Tomasino is now a Penguin.

Philly Hockey Now: As trade talks and rumors continue to heat up around the NHL, the Philadelphia Flyers have been named as a potential trade destination for one of the hottest names on the market: Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman David Jiricek.
