New Jersey Devils

Since the last time the Hudson River Rivals met, a lot has changed for the Blueshirts. Last meeting, the New Jersey Devils (22-11-3) routed the New York Rangers (16-16-1) to a 5-1 shellacking. It was seemingly the beginning of a dark period on Broadway that brought many changes for them since.

Now, they have no captain who was banished to California and their former second overall pick in 2019 was moved to Seattle. The Rangers have also free-fallen out of playoff position, something that they didn’t imagine happening just 20 days ago. In their last 10 games, they’re 3-7-0, and none of their three victories in that span have been all that encouraging.

And just to add a little salt to the wound, the Rangers recalled Matt Rempe who has undoubtedly been a polarizing figure for New York. In his first game back, he illegally checked Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskenen and received an eight-game suspension per an in-person hearing.

Meanwhile, the Devils have been going well and hold first place in the Metropolitan Division.

Let’s look ahead to this afternoon’s tilt.

What to Know vs. Rangers

-The Devils and New York face-off for the second of four matchups this season.
