OTTAWA, ON - OCTOBER 17: New Jersey Devils Left Wing Paul Cotter (47) congratulates Goalie Jacob Markstrom (25) on the win after National Hockey League action between the New Jersey Devils and Ottawa Senators on October 17, 2024, at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, ON, Canada. If it weren’t for Jacob Markstrom, the New Jersey Devils’ win streak very well could have increased to five games. Fortunately, general manager Tom Fitzgerald paid for the kind of insurance on a goaltender like Markstrom to bail them out when necessary. And boy, did he ever.

The nightmare western road trip is over as the Devils head back east to take on the New York Rangers tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden. If the Devils are truly back on track, they’ll need to prove it by taking advantage of a spiraling Rangers squad.

Elsewhere, speaking of the Rangers, they could have a shiny new player in the lineup tomorrow night, Arizona’s already pitching hockey’s return to the desert, and could the Colorado captain finally be coming back?

Let’s do that hockey.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

NHL.com: The Devils could’ve certainly used a depth forward with scoring upside. One became available via the waiver wire. However, their rival, the New York Rangers, picked up the former first-round draft pick, as Arthur Kaliyev heads to Broadway.

The Athletic ($): So what went wrong in Los Angeles that the Kings gave away the 23-year-old forward? And as a result, what exactly are the Rangers getting in Kaliyev?

Sportsnet: Well, that didn’t take very long. Arizona is already looking to bring hockey back to the desert, and plans are already in motion.

Colorado Hockey Now: Colorado Avalanche captain, Gabriel Landeskog, hasn’t played since he lifted the Stanley Cup in 2022. He’s recently been skating with the team. Is he actually nearing a return?
