Bug Bite: Devils Lineup in Flux Ahead of Tilt vs. Flyers
With an illness present, the New Jersey Devils’ lineup is in flux against the Philadelphia Flyers with a few game time decisions, according to Sheldon Keefe.

NEWARK—Ahead of their tilt with the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon, the New Jersey Devils’ lineup is in flux. It sounds like an illness could be making its way through the locker room.
According to Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe, Stefan Noesen is back in the lineup on home ice against Philly. He’s seemingly over the illness that held him out for two games against the Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Expect the breakout scorer to take his place on the second line next to Nico Hischier and Timo Meier, again.
Keefe also disclosed that forward Brian Halonen will make his 2024-25 season debut.
That’s the good news.
The bad news? The bug that bit Noesen might have bitten a few others in the locker room too.
“Noesen will be back today, but we got some other guys that aren’t feeling so hot,” Keefe clarified Saturday morning before puck drop. “They’re going to try to warm up, and we’ll see from there.”
Certainly, its never a good time for an illness to make its rounds in a locker room. However, the Devils are in a time when they’re trying to get back on track. They’ve collected points in six of their last 10 games, however, have fallen in overtime three times in the last four games and have taken seven losses in their last 10 games overall.
Having key bodies out of the lineup will certainly make that uphill battle more difficult.
Warmups will give us a glimpse of what the lines could look like.
It will also confirm the Devils’ starting goaltender in the first game of a back-to-back this weekend, as Keefe didn’t disclose his starting goaltender against the Flyers.
Jacob Markstrom has made the Devils’ last six starts. Jake Allen last played on Jan. 1st, vs. the Los Angeles Kings.
The puck drops between the Devils and Flyers on Saturday at 12:30 P.M.
