The New Jersey Devils hit the ice again today, practicing at RWJBarnabas Arena at 11 A.M. They’re expected to have Seamus Casey and Chase Stillman join the team after traveling from Utica, and in the absence of some 4 Nations players. We’ll catch up with them this afternoon.

As for some housekeeping, Sheldon Keefe provided a mixed bag of injury updates on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Charlie McAvoy’s scary update, Quinn Hughes’ unclear status, and Patrick Kane is feeling secluded.

Let’s do that hockey.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

DailyFaceoff: Charlie McAvoy’s absence from Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off was shocking and sudden. It was even more shocking when it was revealed he was in the hospital for a procedure to remove an infection.

Sportsnet: As a result of McAvoy’s situation, Quinn Hughes is coming. Or, he might be coming. Or, he’s in Vancouver and is waiting to come. To be honest, no one is really sure, but Elliotte Friedman say’s let everyone (who’s applicable) play.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: It seems only hours after the Sidney Crosby to the Colorado Avalanche trade wishes were beaten into the ground for the hundredth time, another trade fantasy popped up involving the Pittsburgh Penguins captain.

Colorado Hockey Now: Regular-season hockey for the Colorado Avalanche resumes on Saturday, and the lineup may look different than before the 4 Nations break. Valeri Nichushkin is expected to return after missing 19 games due to a lower-body injury.

Vegas Hockey Now: In minor trade news, the Vegas Golden Knights announced yesterday that they traded forward Grigori Denisenko to the Nashville Predators for future considerations.

Detroit Hockey Now: Patrick Kane is having some FOMO. Watching Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off left him on the beach thinking about the ice. As a result, the Detroit Red Wings forward has his sights set on the 2026 Olympics.
