It might have been a short tournament game-wise, but the 4 Nations Face-Off has felt like the length of a season. Tonight, it’s the championship between Team USA & Canada. The red, white, and blue are getting some reinforcements, partially thanks to the New Jersey Devils, as illness and injuries have arisen. More on that in the links.

More in Newark, New Jersey Hockey Now caught up with Simon Nemec. Remember those NHL trade rumors? He clarified his comments. Plus, a welcomed return in goal.

Elsewhere, NHL trade rumors leaving players on Long Island with an unfamiliar feeling, Charlie McAvoy’s injury impacts more than just Team USA, and more expansion?

Let’s do that hockey.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

Sportsnet: Kevin Weekes of ESPN took to X on Wednesday and reported that the NHL met with a group from New Orleans about potential expansion. More here.

Chicago Sun ($): Ben Pope reports that the Chicago Sun has learned defenseman Seth Jones is talking with his management about a potential Chicago Blackhawks trade.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Evgeni Malkin doesn’t often speak to the media. In his 19th season, media is a formality he engages in once a month or quarter, pending his newsworthiness or interest. But when the Pittsburgh Penguins center speaks, he usually buries a few gems within his chats.

Boston Hockey Now: Here’s how Charlie McAvoy’s injury creates a long-term issue for the Boston Bruins… and hockey in general.

Speaking of McAvoy, Elliotte Friedman explains the Bruins are “extremely unhappy” with the way Team USA handled their defenseman, citing a lack of proper care.

NYI Hockey Now: The New York Islanders aren’t the type of team that typically has NHL trade rumors surrounding them. That’s been a bit different this season, and Casey Cizikas explained the unusual feeling.

Montreal Hockey Now:  Marc Dumont deep dives into the 2022 NHL Draft and comes to the conclusion that the Montreal Canadiens picked the best player. And… he wasn’t even one of their first three selections.
