NJHN Daily: Devils Buoys; NHL Considering Changes; Penguins Rock Bottom

After New Jersey Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald advocated for more personal changes in the NHL, the GMs had a broader meeting on day two. On Wednesday, we learned that the NHL is considering changes on some of their events, one that lost its luster, and another that most want to see reverted. More on that in the links below.
In New Jersey, Jake Allen very well may have saved the Devils’ season. He’s earned the right to remain with the Devils after this season, should he choose that as an option. Also, Cody Glass’ instant impact has ignited the Devils amid their recent success.
Elsewhere, another promising young gun in San Jose, Pittsburgh hits rock bottom, and the Isles just won’t go away, but how does that impact aforementioned changes this summer?
Let’s do that hockey.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Well, that’s one less team trailing the Devils that they need to worry about. Or, at least almost, anyway. The Pittsburgh Penguins‘ playoff odds officially hit 0%, and their odds at the No.1 pick at the 2025 NHL Draft rises.
San Jose Hockey Now: The San Jose Sharks have so many young and exciting players, that a name like Luca Cagnoni is easy to overlook. However, he’s been recalled to the varsity squad and seemingly has a promise on a team with a bright future. So, what are the scouts seeing in Cagnoni? (+)
NYI Hockey Now: Every time we write off the New York Islanders, they reel us back in. General manager Lou Lamoriello claimed there will be changes made this summer. So, how does winning impact that promise?
The Ahtletic ($): Everyone knows just how popular the 4 Nations Face-Off. It wasn’t just the hockey world. Literally everyone tuned in. That’s why the NHL has changed their tune on the All-Star game. The Islanders will get some sort of event at UBS Arena in 2026, however, there could be changes coming to the format.
Sportsnet: Speaking of changes, the one the NHL has made with the NHL Draft is giving buyers remorse. That’s right, this year’s decentralized draft could very well be going back to the centralized format in a one-and-done situation.
