Devils History! Jesper Bratt Breaks 31-Year-Old Single Season Franchise Record
Jesper Bratt breaks Scott Stevens’ previous Devils record for the most assists in a single season (60), registering his 61st assist of the 2024-25 season with 11 games remaining on the schedule.

NEWARK—Etch Jesper Bratt’s name in the history books as the New Jersey Devils forward broke a 31-year-old franchise record on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators.
Legendary Devils defenseman, Scott Stevens, previously held the single season assist record (60) in New Jersey for the last three decades. However, that was until Bratt registered his 61st assist of the season against Ottawa, breaking the record and crowning himself the new assists king in New Jersey.
When the Devils went to the power play in the second period on Saturday night, Bratt set up the Devils captain, assisting a power play goal, scored by Nico Hischier, to cut Ottawa’s two-goal lead in half.
Bratt came close to the record in the 2023-24 campaign, when he registered 56 helpers and 83 points last season. He was also named an All-Star.
His 56 assists in 2023-24 also has him in a five-way tie with Jack Hughes, Kirk Muller, Scott Gomez, Wild Paiement (1977-78 Colorado Rockies), and Patrik Elias for the fourth-most assists in a single season.
However, now Bratt sits all by himself atop the Devils’ history books as the leader in assists in a single season.
In his eight-year career thus far, Bratt’s collected 149 goals, 291 assists, and 440 points in 542 games.
Bratt’s rise to stardom has certainly been impressive. In three of the last four seasons, the Swedish forward has led the Devils in points as one of the catalysts on offense. His assist on Saturday brings his point total to 81, which is just two points shy of his career-high in points (83), which he set last season.
Bratt now has the next 11 games remaining on the schedule to break his own glass ceiling.
The NHL named Jesper Bratt their second star of the week last week, registering two goals and nine points in four games.
