NEWARK—In the final game of the Hudson River Rivalry in the 2024-25 regular season, the New Jersey Devils go into the tilt with good news on the injury front. Forward Cody Glass, who missed the last four games with a lower body injury, will play against the New York Rangers. Tomas Tatar, who missed Friday’s practice, will also play in the rivalry game.

Getting Cody Glass back in the lineup is a good boost for the injury decimated Devils. They’re already minus Jack Hughes, and although Glass is no Hughes replacement—nor a lite version of the franchise forward—he’s certainly the preference over Justin Dowling, who has been filling the 3C role in his absence.

Since acquiring Glass at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline, he’s fit into the Devils’ lineup seamlessly. In eight games, the former sixth overall pick has accrued two goals and six points.

His offensive outburst has been a welcomed addition, but it’s his defensive skill set where the Devils will benefit most against the Rangers who have averaged 3.3 goals per game in their last 10 contests.

Head coach Sheldon Keefe also revealed that Seamus Casey will play in his first rivalry game with the Rangers. The Devils recalled the top defense prospect on Wednesday, looking for a bit of a boost on offense from the blueline.

The Devils’ bench boss explained what he’s looking for when Casey takes the ice against the Devils’ rival, hoping for an increased compete level and insertion of offensive ability.

“I just want to see him compete and be able to defend well,” Keefe explained. “But really for us, it’s his ability to move the puck. Obviously, it’s a short and small sample, but he’s been one of our better offensive producers. So being able to contribute offensively, whether it’s him shooting the net or facilitating offense for others, helping on their power play, that kind of stuff. We just want to give him a shot here.”

The Devils and Rangers drop the puck at 12:30 E.T. on Saturday afternoon at the Prudential Center.
