New Jersey Devils

The last time the New Jersey Devils faced their rival, the New York Rangers, they looked a lot different.

No J.T. Miller, no Carson Soucey, and no Gabriel Perreault.

The Blueshirts are hanging onto their Stanley Cup Playoffs hopes that are dwindling day-by-day. They remain two points out of the second wild card spot in a race with the Montreal Canadiens. Similarly to the Devils, they won their last two contests and are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games.

The Devils look different as well.

No Jack Hughes, no Dougie Hamilton, no Jonas Siegenthaler.

They continue to navigate their new identity, and have begun to come into their own of late.

The Devils standing in the way of the Rangers’ playoff hopes is somewhat poetic. Let’s dive into today’s matchup.

What to Know vs. Rangers

—The Devils have accrued five of a possible six points so far against the Rangers this season.

—Jesper Bratt is on fire against the Rangers this season. In three games thus far, the Swedish forward scored two goals and seven points, two points on the power play.

—Jacob Markstrom’s accrued a 2-0-1 record with a .952 SV% and 1.31 GAA and one shutout. The Devils’ No.1 goaltender has allowed just four goals on 83 shots versus the Blueshirts.

—Luke Hughes has dished four assists in three games in this season’s Hudson River Rivalry.
