The last time the New Jersey Devils (41-29-7) met the Boston Bruins (31-38-9), they suffered a significant loss. Not on the scoresheet, however. Justin Brazeau (now a member of the Minnesota Wild) crashed into Jacob Markstrom in his crease, causing a lower-body injury that saw the Swedish netminder miss six weeks of the regular season, and the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Still, they collected the win. And although Brazeau is no longer with the Bruins, you wonder if the Devils haven’t forgotten what happened.

Anyway, the Bruins are free-falling. They no longer have their captain, Brad Marchand, who resides in Florida. Charlie Coyle is a member of the Colorado Avalanche. The Bruins team coming in on Tuesday is far more inferior to the one they pummeled in January.

What to Know vs. Bruins

—In their last meeting with the Boston Bruins in January, Nico Hischier registered three points (1g, 2a) and Dawson Mercer collected a pair of goals in a 5-1 victory on home ice.

—Jacob Markstrom was injured in the second period of the contest, and Jake Allen collected the win in relief making 16 saves on 16 shots.
