The New Jersey Devils are heading back to the postseason after clinching their spot in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Thanks to the Devils’ division rival, the Philadelphia Flyers, their 8-5 regulation win on Wednesday over New Jersey’s other rival, the New York Rangers, punched their ticket to the postseason.

In their first chance to punch their ticket to the postseason, the Devils fumbled against the last place Boston Bruins.

However, with a little help from their rival, the Devils are headed back to the playoffs in 2025.

New Jersey missed the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs as the result of an overwhelming amount of injuries in the 2023-24 regular season that trickled into

It was a disappointing blip on the radar after New Jersey put together a 112-point season in 2022-23.

The Devils returned to the postseason for the first time since their appearance in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

In the first round in 2023, the Devils eliminated the Rangers in Game 7 of the series. They faced the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round, and were eliminated in five games.

Similarly to last season, the Devils are dealing with key injuries down the stretch. Jack Hughes won’t be available to New Jersey until next fall. Jonas Siegenthaler is unlikely to be available in the postseason, although he hasn’t been completely ruled out.

In a bit of recent positive news, Dougie Hamilton is trending toward a potential return in the first-round.

The Devils’ first-round matchup is all but solidified, and it’s likely they will face the Hurricanes in the postseason again. It’s likely Carolina will have home-ice advantage.

New Jersey has four games remaining on their 2024-25 regular season schedule.
