All three Swiss New Jersey Devils players are heading to Sweden to participate in the IIHF World Championships.

Nico Hischier, Timo Meier, and Jonas Siegenthaler have been added to the Swiss roster, according to the team, who put out the following announcement video from the three Devils players:

That now makes four Devils who are attending the 2025 IIHF World Championships, as Jacob Markstrom has already been announced for Team Sweden.

It’s good news for the Devils, especially for Siegenthaler who returned early in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs from injury.

The news that Jonas Siegenthaler is joining his Devils teammates for Switzerland means that although he returned early in the playoffs, he feels healthy enough to continue playing and now represent his country.

One of the factors that lured Meier to New Jersey was his chemistry with Nico Hischier. The duo will return to the international pool of play hoping to help lead Switzerland with their chemistry both on the Devils, and in previous years for their country.

This is the sixth time Hischier will represent Switzerland at the World Championships, previously playing for his country in 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Hischier served as the Swiss captain in 2022, and wore a letter as an alternate in the following years.

Meier is going into his fourth tournament for Switzerland, previously playing in 2018, 2021, and 2022. It will also be Siegenthaler’s fourth tournament, previously playing in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

The 2025 IIHF World Championships are set to get underway on Friday, May 9th in Stockholm, Sweden.

Other Devils candidates who have yet to confirm their status at the World Championships are Jesper Bratt and Simon Nemec.

Ondrej Palat and Tomas Tatar both confirmed they will not be participating in this year’s tournament.
