If there was ever a year for fans of the New Jersey Devils to want one of their in-division rivals to win the lottery, it was probably this one. There’s no clear-cut candidate to be taken first overall. No bona fide generational talent. That’s not to say someone can’t become that, but as of right now, it’s a gamble.

Well, after some unlikely odds, the first overall pick is in the division, and they have options.

In New Jersey, an injury that took everyone by surprise.

Elsewhere, David Carle’s future is now clear, Marc-Andre Fleury ain’t done yet, and some coaching/GM news.
