The New Jersey Devils have begun to make changes to head coach Sheldon Keefe’s supporting staff.

The team will announced on Friday they will not renew the contracts of Assistant Coaches Ryan McGill and Chris Taylor.

Both McGill and Taylor were retained as Travis Green and Keefe’s assistants after Lindy Ruff was fired in March of 2024.

McGill was hired by the Devils in July 2022. His primary responsibilities were to work with team defense and penalty killing units.

McGill has been credited with helping the growth of players such as Luke Hughes and Jonas Siegenthaler. He’s served as an assistant coach in the NHL since 2017 with the Vegas Golden Knights.

Taylor, hired in 2020, was primarily involved in developing young NHL talent.

The Devils have also opted to not renew the contract for contracts of Head Video Coach Jerry Dineen.

There will also be changes to the Utica Comets who finished the season in last place with a 31-36-6-2 record.

Comets Assistant Coach David Cunniff also will not be renewed.

Keefe and general manager Tom Fitzgerald will work collaboratively to search for new associate coaches.

An official search for replacements is underway.
