As part of Tom Fitzgerald’s quest to revamp the New Jersey Devils’ bottom-six, he’ll need a solidified third-line center. They could look externally for one, but they don’t necessarily have to. They have an option in-house that certainly could be a solution that allows them to focus on scoring wingers.

Elsewhere, Vegas and Toronto discussed Mitch Marner, Thatcher Demko to the Metro? And the plans for the No.1 overall pick on Long Island.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Mike Sullivan is a great coach. In fact, one of the NHLs best. However, he wasn’t without his mistakes. Dan Kingerski explains how the Pittsburgh Penguins undo said mistakes, and players they can still salvage.

Colorado Hockey Now: Brock Nelson wanted the Colorado Avalanche when he was traded to Denver by the New York Islanders. Now, he wants to make his stay permanent with an extension.

NYI Hockey Now: Mathieu Darche completed his first transactions as New York Islanders GM, extending forward Kyle Palmieri and defenseman Adam Boqvist.

NY Post: Speaking of the Islanders, don’t expect them to trade the No.1 pick. Darche doesn’t expect to do so, he said it openly. You might as well call Matthew Schaefer an Islander already.

Vegas Hockey Now: According to Elliotte Friedman, in the summer of 2024, the Vegas Golden Knights and Toronto Maple Leafs discussed a potential Mitch Marner trade. However, it obviously never made it across the finish line.

Philly Hockey Now: According to DailyFaceoff, Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko is an NHL trade candidate this summer. Could he follow Rick Tocchet to the Philadelphia Flyers, who are desperate for goaltending?
