NJHN Daily: Devils UFA Target; Major Rangers Shakeup Whispers; Nixed Blockbuster Trade

It seems like there’s going to be quite a few scoring options available in the free agent market on July 1st. With the New Jersey Devils on the hunt for improved scoring, it’s assumed that general manager Tom Fitzgerald will be checking in with the agents of the soon available players.
The Devils have already been linked to one big name, and it’s a player that many have actually had on their wishlist.
More in the links.
Elsewhere, a major shakeup on Broadway? A nixed blockbuster trade between Vegas and Toronto, and things got ugly between the Cats and Oil last night.
Let’s do that hockey.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. First, Arthur Staple reported that the New York Rangers are looking to shake up their roster.
Heard around the NHL combine this week:
— #NYR among a handful of teams (BUF, UTA, SEA) looking to shake up their roster soon
— Shesterkin, Fox and Panarin may be only #NYR untouchables in trade talk
— Keep an eye on Vladislav Gavrikov and #NYR if Chris Drury can free up space— Arthur Staple (@StapeAthletic) June 7, 2025
Now, Larry Brooks is reporting via the NY Post that the shakeup could include trading Alexis Lafreniere. Things could look a lot different on Broadway next season.
NYI Hockey Now: With a handful of contracts to figure out on Long Island, could New York Islanders defenseman, Alexander Romanov be the odd-man out?
Florida Hockey Now: The Florida Panthers POUNCED on the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3, ringing up Oil goaltenders for six goals. Things got ugly between the two sides in a hurry.
Vegas Hockey Now: Well, this is a huge precursor to Mitch Marner’s pending free agency status. The Toronto Maple Leafs and Vegas Golden Knights were down the line on a three-team trade involving Marner. So what made it fall apart?
More Athletic ($): T.J. Oshie missed the entire 2024-25 season and, as a result, was forced to retire at 38 years old.
