More names affiliated with the NHL trade block dropped over the weekend, and a few of those names would certainly help the New Jersey Devils.

However, it will be dependent on what Luke Hughes’ next contract looks like (an update on that below), and if they shed some salary.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

TSN: The Anaheim Ducks are going through a transformation. Now, they have Joel Quenneville behind the bench. It helps that they have a ton of cap space, and are determined to crawl out of the NHLs basement. They took the Chris Kreider salary dump, but now they’re on the hunt for bigger talent.

This one was just a quick thought, but Frank Seravalli on a recent episode of DailyFaceoff wondered if Jordan Kyrou could be moved before his no-trade clause kicks in. That’s certainly a player the Devils could use, eh?

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The latest rumblings are that the Pittsburgh Penguins are in a unique spot compared to the rest of the NHL. Whereas most teams are looking to add, the Penguins are seemingly loners looking to sell. Thus far, there’s one team linked to Rickard Rakell.

Florida Hockey Now: Once mortal enemies, Brad Marchand and Sam Bennett are working together as Florida Panthers‘ teammates, leading the charge to potentially claim the Cats’ second Stanley Cup in a row. One of them seems likely to win the Conn Smythe.

NYI Hockey Now: Last year, the hot KHL free agent was Maxim Tsyplakov. This year, it’s Maxim Shabanov, and the New York Islanders are amid the top suitors for the Russian forward.
