Brad Marchand Trolls Devils After Stanley Cup Victory With Snarky Social Media Post
After the Panthers won their second consecutive Stanley Cup, Brad Marchand trolled the Devils, among others, in a social media post.
Perhaps, we should have seen this one coming. After the Florida Panthers won their second consecutive Stanley Cup, Brad Marchand trolled the New Jersey Devils on social media.
Why?
Well, during the 2024-25 season, the Panthers rostered a healthy amount of ex-Devils who contributed to their championship victory on Tuesday.
Via Marchand’s Instagram story, the now two-time Stanley Cup Champion thanked the Devils organization in a caption, and pictured Vitek Vanecek, Tomas Nosek, and Jesper Boqvist, seemingly for letting each player go.

Ouch, that one hurts.
The Devils moved on from Vanecek at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, sending the Czech goaltender to the San Jose Sharks for Kaapo Kahkonen.
Vanecek served as Sergei Bobrovsky’s backup last season, registering a 5-14-4 record, one shutout, amid a 3.62 GAA and .884 SV%.
Nosek’s time with the Devils was complicated, mostly burdened by injuries. He played in the same checking role he did in New Jersey for Florida in 2024-25, scoring a goal and nine points in 59 games. In 16 Stanley Cup Playoff games in 2025, he registered three assists.
Among the ex-Devils on the Panthers now, perhaps Jesper Boqvist is the biggest loss. The Swedish forward earned himself a two-year extension in March with Florida after a strong season for the Cats. He scored 12 goals and 23 points in 78 regular season games, slotting into the lineup in multiple roles throughout the top and bottom six.
In 13 playoff games, Boqvist scored two goals and five points.
Vanecek, Boqvist, and Nosek weren’t the only former Devils on the roster. Dmitry Kulikov (who captured his second Stanley Cup with the Panthers), A.J. Greer, and Tuomo Ruutu (assistant coach) all play or work in the Panthers organization now.
After Sasha Barkov hoisted the Stanley Cup for the second time in as many postseasons, the Panthers made sure to pass the Cup to those who had not won hockey’s ultimate prize before. Nosek was the first ex-Devil to receive the championship trophy, who then passed it to Vanecek, then to Greer, and then Boqvist.
The Devils were not the only victims of Brad Marchand‘s goofy personality. On his Instagram story, Marchand was sure to picture and tag every player and their former team to extend them a thank you in one way or another, allowing said players to play for the Panthers.
Brad Marchand is VERY thankful for the teams that gave away members of the Stanley Cup-winning Florida Panthers. #TimeToHunt
