The latest news about where New Jersey Devils general manager is poking around on the market is revealing. Calling it a back-up plan seems arbitrary, given the target was never likely to pick New Jersey anyway. But, we’ll see who else Tom Fitzgerald has on his list of targets this summer that will re-shape an already changing bottom-six.
Elsewhere, the Hockey Hall-of-Fame introduces the class of 2025, the latest free agency buzz names another Mitch Marner suitor, and the NHL trade big board 2.0.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Tuesday morning, multiple reports broke that the New York Rangers made their decision, and to complete the trade they made with the Vancouver Canucks for J.T. Miller, they will deliver their 2025 first-round pick, 12th overall, to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
San Jose Hockey Now: No one is more inside the San Jose Sharks than Sheng Peng. He’s got the latest on their mindset heading into NHL free agency. Brock Boeser is a name they’re interested in, and there’s Mitch Marner smoke, too. (+)
