BREAKING: Devils Sign Forward Connor Brown to a Multi-Year Contract
The Devils ink veteran Connor Brown to a four-year contract, bringing the veteran to New Jersey.

The New Jersey Devils have inked forward Connor Brown to a four-year, $12 million contract that carries a $3 million average annual value. He’ll own a full no-trade clause for the first two years of his contract, and a 10-team no trade clause in the final two seasons.

Brown, a 32-year-old veteran, potted 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points in 82 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season.
Brown recently played in back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals with the Oilers, and brings 82 games of NHL experience to New Jersey.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Brown is a former sixth-round draft pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs. He’s registered two 20-plus goal seasons in his 10-year NHL career. After his run in Toronto, Brown also skated for the Ottawa Senators and Washington Capitals.
The Devils are Browns fifth NHL team.
After tearing his ACL in Washington after just four games in 2022-23, Brown returned to the NHL with the Oilers.
“I think it was toughest mentally, maybe, at the start, in coming to terms with the loss of a season and what feels like a squandered opportunity,” Brown stated to the NHLPA. “But I looked at it in the way of what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Mentally, I’m feeling better than ever. I’m excited about this next chapter. Physically, it is what it is. It’s a process. It’s rewarding when you feel better and better each day, each week. Having the help of my wife, my family, and my friends, I have a huge support system. I’m very grateful for that.”
After general manager Tom Fitzgerald explained he wanted to re-shape his bottom six, Brown is a good bet to strengthen it as a winger with plus-skating and is an excellent penalty killer. Brown can also carry the puck well in transition as a driver, generate scoring chances for himself and his linemates, and is active on the rush.
Brown is now just one of a few bottom-six changes that are anticipated ahead. He will have the opportunity to play with a mix of Dawson Mercer, Paul Cotter, & Stefan Noesen, among others.
