The injury bug is full present early in New Jersey. The Devils have a dark cloud hanging over them for the next day-plus, as we await further insight on not one, but both of their NHL goaltenders. It’s certainly a concern as we head to the home opener on Thursday.

In the links, plenty on Aresney Gritsyuk, Timo Meier continues his ascension, and Dawson Mercer is earning his stripes.

Elsewhere, Lane Hutson cashes in, Colorado’s dynamic duo, and Vegas’ experiment.

Let’s do that hockey.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

Montreal Hockey Now: The big news of the day came out of Canada. The Montreal Canadiens inked budding superstar defenseman, Lane Hutson, to a long-term, eight-year contact. His AAV comes in just under Luke Hughes. Here’s why it’s a crucial step forward, says Marc Dumont.

Out in Buffalo, things are NOT good. And the Sabres’ stars are pressuring for things to get better.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Uh-oh, Kris Letang’s availability for the Pittsburgh Penguins is up in the air. Head coach Dan Muse shuffled his defense pairs just in case.

Detroit Hockey Now: This would be a tough loss. Lucas Raymond suffered an upper body injury in the second period and the Detroit Red Wings still found a way to pull out a dramatic 3-2 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Colorado Hockey Now: The duo of Nathan Mackinnon and Martin Necas is lethal. There’s no stopping the Colorado Avalanche duo, says CHNs Aarif Deen.

Vegas Hockey Now: The Vegas Golden Knights experimented with their lines and split up the duo of Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner. However, here’s why Hannah Kirkell say’s they shouldn’t do that just yet.
