Devils Daily: NHL General Managers Eager to Start Making Moves
Jackets call on Severson, Brunette talks Devils tenure

Newark, NJ – Despite the Stanley Cup Final still ongoing, it appears that General Managers are eager to start making moves. Cole Caufield was extended, and Vladislav Gavrikov as well. Ivan Provarov is also now a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets after Wednesday’s trade. However, before Columbus acquired the Russian defenseman, the Blue Jackets called about Damon Severson.

New Jersey Devils

New Jersey Hockey Now: Simon Nemec was selected second overall in the 2022 NHL Draft. If the Devils needed any further validation they made the right choice, they got it Wednesday. Nemec was named to the AHLs Top Prospect Team.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: President of Hockey Operations and acting GM Kyle Dubas has a history of trading down at the NHL draft. In the Penguins’ recent history on the draft floor, they haven’t needed much of a plan due to all the success. Expect a different approach from the Penguins with Dubas at the head of the table.

Boston Bruins

Boston Hockey Now: It was the one-year anniversary this week of the Bruins firing Bruce Cassidy. Now, Cassidy is up two wins to none in the Stanley Cup Final. Admittedly, Cassidy was relieved to see his former club bow out in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs to the Panthers.

San Jose Sharks

San Jose Hockey Now: The Flyers got a good haul for Provarov when they traded their No.1 defenseman. According to SJHN, the Flyers want at least two first-round picks for goaltender Carter Hart, maybe even more. Does it make sense for the Sharks?

New York Islanders

NYI Hockey Now: The King Clancy Award is given out annually to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution to his community. Anders Lee does plenty to help out Long Island. He’s a finalist for the King Clancy Award.

Los Angeles Kings

LA Hockey Now: The Kings were busy on Tuesday brokering a deal that eventually landed Ivan Provarov in Columbus, but not before LA retained 30% of his salary. Despite the retention, the Kings cleared up some cap space. On Wednesday, they signed Vladislav Gavrikov to an extension.

Chicago Blackhawks

Chicago Hockey Now: Darren Pang has been working in national broadcasts for some time now. Currently with TNT and formerly with ESPN, he’s now reportedly joining his former club as part of the Blackhawks broadcast team.

Nashville Predators

Nashville Hockey Now: At the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline, Jusse Saros was named “untouchable” in any trade talks. Apparently, that wasn’t the whole truth. According to NHN, the Kings and Predators had discussions regarding the Swiss goaltender. So, why didn’t it happen?

Buffalo Sabres

Buffalo Hockey Now: The Sabres are seemingly bullish on Devon Levi. They should be, he’s been as advertised and more thus far. However, does Carter Hart’s sudden availability too good for Buffalo to pass up?
