Devils Daily: Jacob Markstrom Willing to be Dealt; Scott Laughton NHL Trade Talk

Published

on

It was a tough night for a loss on Thursday for the New Jersey Devils. It’s tough to pin the blame on their play. They peppered Jacob Markstrom with 40 shots. They were undone by their goaltending. And to make matters worse, the Philadelphia Flyers, Carolina Hurricanes, and New York Islanders all collected two points.

In the links, speaking of needing a goalie, the guy who beat the Devils last night is seemingly open to waiving his no-move clause.

There was a TON of scouts at the Prudential Center last night. The Isles could be buyers as they’re turning things around under Patrick Roy, and is Scott Laughton destined for Toronto?

Plus more.

Let’s do that hockey.

Devils News

New Jersey Hockey Now: According to Jacob Markstrom, despite his no-move clause, the Devils’ goaltending trade target is leaving his fate in the hands of the Flames. That’s certainly an interesting development for New Jersey who are certainly in need of a goaltender.

More NJHN: Speaking of needing goaltending, an inadequate night in net spoiled Jack Hughes‘ return to the lineup in the Devils’ 5-3 loss.

Even More: Former Devils captain Zach Parise potted his first goal of the season with his new team.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

Calgary Hockey Now: It was a full house in the scouting section at the Prudential Center last night. Just connecting the dots here, but it’s now mid-February, the Calgary Flames were in the building, and Noah Hanifin was supposed to let GM Craig Conroy know if he’s staying or going. Scouts from 15 teams, 18 total, and three from the Vegas Golden Knights.

San Jose Hockey Now: Not surprisingly, Mikael Granlund has hit the trade rumor circuit. He’s one of the many assets that the Sharks could be dealing at the deadline.

NYI Hockey Now: Lou Lamoriello rarely, if ever, lets anything leak. Regardless, with new head coach Patrick Roy behind the bench and “playoff hockey” from here on out, the New York Islanders are expected to be buyers, according to a report.

Philly Hockey Now: A Toronto Maple Leafs trade with the Philadelphia Flyers could be on the horizon. At least, it was in the recent past, with Scott Laughton nearly heading north of the border.

The Athletic ($): As we inch closer to the NHL Trade Deadline, Pierre LeBrun provides the latest rumblings such as Edmonton Oilers targets, the latest on Elias Lindholm, and more.

TSN video: Analysts Mike Johnson and Frankie Corrado rank the top five players, including Jakob Chychrun and Guentzel, available at the NHL trade deadline.
